Re-used wood processing for Club 55

The latest dictates and innovative rules on wood stabilisation and disinfection were applied in the production of the wooden artefacts supplied by our company to le Club 55 in Ramatuelle.
The wood has been fully disinfected and baked in our drying kilns, using our own exclusive method to make it safe – stable – and over time non-deformable. Some parts have been waterproofed without altering the appearance, so that the wood (arrived and retrieved from the sea or found in rivers) always looks rough, but is in fact waterproofed; in this way, a hand soiled with grease or oil, or some staining material, does not impact the wood itself, as it is conveniently washable (it has become ‘waterproof‘ material thanks to our treatment).

Our Reclaimed Wood with zero pollution

The raw material used, i.e. ‘Reclaimed Wood‘ (derived, for example, from wood found in dry riverbeds), was harvested at ‘zero kilometres’ from the farm, resulting in a low use of hydrocarbons used for its collection; furthermore, very little water was used in its firing process.
The result was therefore almost zero pollution, since the combustion required to dry this type of wood comes from our company’s recycling of wood shavings and sawdust from sawmilling and planing work: this wood waste, thanks to the use of vacuum cleaners that make the collection rooms clean, is fed into a boiler that produces all the energy needed to cook the wood (thus without dependence on hydrocarbons or gas).

The natural architecture given to the Club 55 artefacts

The architectural aspect of this structure moves from finishes made exclusively by the hand of man; these have been carried out with primitive tools, such as abrasive stones, so that the effect given is that of a ‘flatness-not-flatness‘, which is not a nonsense but an idea of ‘perfect-imperfect‘ design that the owner of Le Club 55 – the creator of the entire structure – wanted to imprint on this old and recovered wood, but at the same time not totally worked with industrial machines, which are too precise in their realisation.

Innovation

The particularity of the structure is that it was designed to be assembled and disassembled every year for the summer season (March to October), in accordance with the new French national regulations. In execution, and as can be seen from the photos, the timbers were transported to the beach in animal traction, with horses and a trailer.

Structure

The complex consists of a reception area, bar/snack, kitchen, shop, changing rooms, toilets and terrace, all made from reclaimed wood from our company’s own processing.
