HISTORICITY AND MODERNISM

brondelloerminio is the definition of ecological exclusivity in home furniture

It was in 1929 that the Brondello-Garnerone family began its “woodworking” activity, harvesting

wood in the Cuneo Valleys. A beginning marked by knowledge of the land, where the wood grew

and grows, with consequent respect for human beings. The sawmill proper was born in a place where, with the passage of time, it became perfectly integrated into the community, avoiding pollution to those living in the same area. Likewise, it has taken care of workers and employees, the beating heart of our know-how.

1950

As early as 1950 and in the years that followed, the first production process took shape, then applied to new wood. The use of the first dryers then made it possible to begin the work of studying on wood stabilization; research which continued until the 1980s and which has allowed, in recent years, to learn and deepen the methods of firing wood in order to make it stable and durable over

time.

1990

At the end of the 90’s, while still maintaining an artisan production, the company began to

emphasize the computerized control of some of the production phases, for example with the constant monitoring of the hygrometric values in the various phases of wood conditioning. It was precisely in these years that the guideline became the improvement of the homemade, in the groove of the respect for the environment, with of course the use of every practice definable as sustainable for human health.

2010

At the beginning of the 21st century, the company once again decided to invest in the recovery of wood materials. The first collaborations with university institutes and the Politecnico di Torino have begun, in order to also study new methods on wood technologies, designed to create products that allow energy savings, and thus again aimed at the initial idea: respect for mankind. Everything, always produced in “slow motion”, with non-industrial methods and sometimes with handicraft machines that always need the “hand of man”.

Know How

Touching and treating “with our hands” old wood, every day, using the artisanal methods of the sawmill workers of yesteryear, is what our sawmill aims to do.

To give a new shape to recycled wood with our know-how, which unfolds and expresses itself around the idea of attention to detail and care in touching and working old wood. Allowing the material to carry with it what time has taken.

For this reason, our mission originates in trying to recover and find to make design just and sustainable. Our work is slow and is intended to continue to be a praise of craftsmanship, where human hands can be the only craftsmen.

Our Manifesto

Our credo is to preserve the forest heritage and limit the cutting of trees, using only wood from mature trees. Leaving a world of trees in forests and using local “zero kilometerwood is our way of contributing to sustainability and economic development.

The conditioning of all the lumber, so that it is adapted and stabilized for the place where it will be used and placed, the stabilization of the old wood, which by its nature must be placed in a drying room and disinfected, and finally the precision in the workmanship, with modern-day machinery, helps us to recognize the economy at times, the understated elegance always, of our work on traditional and local woods.
